It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Multi-row and GigaPixel panoramic photography are techniques that I recommend trying only after you become extremely comfortable with capturing basic panoramas. These techniques create more realistic- feeling panoramas. You might have encountered these types of photographs in virtual building tours that allow you to look in every possible direction.
A multi-row panoramic photograph requires additional tripod hardware, but makes it possible to capture additional frames. This can increase the amount of frames possible in any panoramic scene.
