Foot spikes and claws are another worthwhile tripod accessory. These are not specific to panoramic photography as they can help keep your tripod steady any time it’s on rough terrain. Foot spikes are designed to dig the tripod legs into dirt or sand while the claws are designed to grip rock. I use a set of foot spikes from Gitzo on my Really Right Stuff tripods. These spikes also come with rubber covers for use on normal terrain such as the street, on a dock, or in the studio.
I recommend opting for a hook underneath the ball head as well. That way, on windy days or on rough terrain, you can hang your camera bag from it for the added weight to add more stability.
