Positioning Head
While the tripod brand and material are not that significant to panoramic photography, other features of the tripod can be extremely beneficial. If your tripod has a positioning head, the control of the pitch, roll, and yaw can be separated from the panning motion. The advantage to this is a perfectly level pan without concern about added parallax. A positioning head offers control over:
• Pitch. The pitch is the up and down or forward and back tilting motion of your tripod’s positioning head. Think of it like tilting your head down toward your toes and up toward the sky.
