Professional penetration testing may be more fun when we're hacking a target and pivoting through a particularly challenging environment, but we don't get paid for the fun. We get paid to deliver guidance and actionable intelligence. Customers hire us because they, or someone compelling them to hire us, realize that they cannot hope to be secure without independent verification. The guidance we provide should be factually grounded and is best presented as a summary of impressions followed by an action plan. Some customers may dictate how that should be presented, but in the absence of that you will need to consider how best to present the findings.
