Baking in security
Application teams and IT organizations in general have been faced with an impossible trade-off: be secure or be productive. A lot of this stems from the good old days, where security was bolted onto an architecture or application long after it was developed and deployed. As applications have become more complex, and their importance has skyrocketed, bolt-on security approaches are no longer cutting it. When the application is unaware of security and the security solutions are simply layered over the top, that disconnect hampers visibility and forces someone to actually identify issues manually before adjustments are made.
