Change Management (CM) is one of those processes that anyone in IT loves to hate, but it serves a critical role. CM provides a structure that all changes to an operational or production environment must be conducted within. With this process in place, all stakeholders theoretically are aware of changes and able to weigh in appropriately. We have all been in situations where that process was either too lax (and things were missed) or too rigid (people looked to avoid it or progress ground to a halt). I think we can all agree that CM is needed, and that vulnerability remediation and breach response are no exceptions.
