Overflowing fun
There are several forms of code injection that cause buffer overflows, each focused on attacking a different service in the underlying web or Application Tier servers or in the application itself. Well-known overflow attacks are often unnoticed by the developers who are managing extensive reuse of libraries and therefore may not understand that the vulnerability is there. Even with this potential for issues, more is known about these, and so we must encourage our customers to be hyper vigilant in their patching and configuration management.
