The 1980 book and subsequent 2002 movie Catch Me If You Can is a great caper about real-life forger and con-artist Frank Abagnale, who was an expert at manipulating people and having them cash forged checks and otherwise take actions on his behalf. Hackers can use similar social engineering skills and authentic-looking requests to turn unsuspecting clients against the server and take advantage of their trust relationship to deliver malicious commands. Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is an attack that targets a client using an application vulnerability, but it actually does so to turn the client against its application.
