Some web applications, such as expense reporting tools, online graphics or picture galleries, or insurance companies, may require the ability to upload files as part of a workflow. As most of these files are needed for the purpose of sharing with company staff or dissemination among other users, it is imperative that these file types be properly gated and that the files themselves are clean of malware or questionable material. Companies should, before welcoming these files into their workflows, be certain of the need and make educated decisions as to where their liability to other stakeholders ends.
