Passive scanning is a non-obtrusive means by which we can map out and learn about the structure of the site and the code that results in interacting with it. Passive scanning does not allow for an in-line modification of the HTTP messages, but a full inspection of the unmodified headers and content allows ZAP to provide insights. And it will build alerts and tags just as if they were generated through active scanning.
