I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Initial Provisioning Tasks
Before you begin your ONS node setup, ensure that you have the prerequisite information, including the node name, contact, location, current date, and time. If the ONS 15454 will be connected to an OAM&P network, you also need the IP address and subnet mask assigned to the node and the IP address of the default router. If Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is used, you need the IP address of the DHCP server. If you intend to create card protection groups, you need the card protection scheme that will be used and what cards will be included in it. Proper network design requires an analysis of the requirements and a determination of the SONET protection topology that will be used for the network.
