Provisioning the SDH MSPP
It is important that you understand the theory behind Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and time-division multiplexing (TDM) before jumping into provisioning mode. This chapter discusses the provisioning of the SDH multiservice provisioning platform (MSPP), subnetwork connection protection (SNCP), multiplex section–shared protection ring (MS-SPRing), and TDM circuits. Prior to the provisioning of TDM circuits, one must perform the basic node provisioning for the SDH infrastructure. We use the ONS 15454 SDH as an example because it exemplifies most of the SDH provisioning aspects.
