ADD THE SWE APPLICATION AS A SUBPROJECT, COMPILE, AND LAUNCH

In the previous section, the SWE_Hello application project is ported from an Expression Blend XAML code project to a native code application project, SWE_Hello. To include the application to the OS design, you need to add the SWE_Hello native code application as a subproject to the OS design.

Add Application as Subproject

Work through the following steps to add the SWE_Hello application as a subproject to the OS design:

1. With the MySWE OS design active, from the VS2008 Solution Explorer tab, right-mouse-click the Subprojects folder, and click Add Existing Subproject, as shown in Figure 22-8.

2. From the selection dialog, navigate and select the SWE_Hello.pbpxml project file from the following directory, and click Open to add the SWE_Hello application as a subproject to the MySWE OS design:

$(_OSDESIGNROOT)\MySWE\MySWE\SWE_Hello

Build and Compile a Subproject Application

Continuing from the exercise in the previous section, work through the following steps to configure the OS design to exclude the SWE_Hello subproject application from the OS run-time image to enable you to compile and build the SWE_Hello subproject without recompiling the OS design to save time:

1. From the VS2008 Solution Explorer tab, right-mouse-click the MySWE OS design project node, and click Properties to bring up the MySWE Property ...
