I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
REGISTRY FOR WINDOWS EMBEDDED COMPACT COMPONENT
When adding a component from the component catalog to the OS design, the default registry entries may not be included or configured to launch the component.
For some OS components, in addition to adding the component from the catalog to the OS design, you need to include additional registry entries to the OS design, to the OSDESIGN.REG file, for the component to function as intended.
Registry for the Serial Port
Serial port is one of the legacy interfaces that has been around for a long time and is still a common interface for many devices in the market. After you configure the serial port with the correct parameters, accessing and using the serial port are simple and straight forward tasks.
An embedded device is built with different mixes of hardware and specifications. The serial ports on the device may not be configured with the same standardized parameters as the PC, and may use different interrupt and input-output (I/O) addresses.
If you experience problems accessing and using the serial ports on a Compact 7 device, review the device’s hardware and firmware (BIOS) settings for the serial ports and compare these settings with the serial ports registry configurations for the device to ensure the registry configurations match the hardware settings.
