SUMMARY
To design a real-time embedded application, you need to control time notifications and execution delays. Windows embedded Compact 7 services include timers, watchdogs, a fixed priority scheduler, and device driver architecture, which are suitable to build time deterministic software. During the design of a real-time system, you need to consider time determinism at the overall system level, including influences of both hardware and software layers. An embedded system designed with Compact 7 may combine real-time processing with other nondeterministic functionalities such as user interface or networking.
