DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT AND TOOLS
Silverlight for Windows Embedded provides an environment that separates application development for a Compact 7 device into two separate environments: UI and programming logic.
As shown in the graphical presentation in Figure 21-1, the designer creates the Silverlight XAML code project for the application’s UI based on design requirements specified in the contract, using Express Blend. Working in parallel, the developer, using Visual Studio 2008, develops code and implements programming logic for the application that functions behind the XAML UI code (code-behind).
Combining the designer’s artistic skill and the developer’s technical skill, Silverlight for Windows Embedded provides an efficient and manageable environment to create an application, with a visually compelling user interface for an embedded device that helps to differentiate the device from the competition.

To develop a Silverlight for Windows Embedded application, you need to have the following software installed to the development station.
