So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
WSDL2Apex
Beside the callout methods, you have the possibility to generate Apex classes and methods from a Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) with the WDSL2Apex function. This is the easiest way to perform a callout in Salesforce. In my experience, you can use this functionality for simple SOAP callouts when you need to get information from a SOA service to update an object. Let's get started:
- In the setup section of Apex Classes, you'll find the Generate from WSDL button:
- Simply load the WSDL definition (this should be an XML file) and click on the Parse WSDL button:
