First, let's talk a little bit about the Visualforce language itself. The Visualforce programming language isn't a difficult language. Visualforce uses a tag-based markup language that is similar to HTML. Each tag corresponds to a user interface component, such as a section of a page, a button, or an individual field. Visualforce has nearly 150 built-in components, and you can even create your own. Visualforce markup can be freely mixed with HTML markup, CSS styles, and JavaScript libraries.
Explaining each standard, Visualforce component will bring us too far into detail—we would need to update this book every release since each release will bring us new standard components.
