In this chapter, I provide a broad overview of a number of techniques that should enable you to write Web applications that are easy to maintain and reuse. The idea was to provide a brief list of practices that will improve your productivity, and to stimulate your thinking with regard to how you design your applications from a technical standpoint. I also introduced an application framework called CGI::Application, which can be used to create applications in a standard way and handle some of the tasks that are common to nearly all the applications that you write.
