I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
As you can see from this hour, there are plenty of ways not to use CGI and still build powerful Web-based applications. Much like CGI, there are tradeoffs that come with all these technologies. One thing that you give up as you move away from CGI is portability. CGI is available for nearly every Web server, and the languages used to write CGI programs (such as C, Perl, and UNIX shell scripting) are very portable as well. As you move to proprietary application platforms, you might find yourself locked into a solution that’s not the best choice for the long run.
