Disaster Recovery planning in Azure

As described in the previous section, High Availability of PaaS offerings is handled by the Azure platform. Disaster Recovery, on the other hand, is up to the developer. For critical production deployments, you should ensure geo-replication of the system to another region.

When deploying services in the Azure cloud, you need to pick a location to which the service will be deployed. While the specific locations of Azure data centers are not publicly disclosed for security reasons, you know the geographic region of the data center, and can choose the location closest to your users.
