NOTES: I go out of my way not to shoot people from a low angle like this because it’s generally not a flattering angle whatsoever, and I also try not to shoot people with an unflattering lens like a 24–70mm. But, in this case, we’re going for a specific look (the blown-out look), with a bit of an environmental portrait to it (note the city skyline across the river), with a specific position for the sun (touching our subject, and even to get that I had to get down on my knees, which is something I don’t relish, and that’s being kind).
