The BOFF Principle
DESCRIPTION
This participative exercise centers on the important area of giving feedback
within the appraisal process. The activity starts with an explanation of the
BOFF (behavior, outcome, feelings, and future) principle. Then the trainer
gives a short presentation after which the group members give him or her
feedback on his or her performance, using the BOFF principle.
SITUATIONS
This activity can be used when covering a number of different aspects of
appraisals: interviewing, writing, preparation, and post-interview review. It
also has applications in general management and working alongside others.
