Purpose: To keep a sub-routine ready for XORing 2 bits as no single instruction is available. It also shows
the usage of ANL C, /bit and ORL C, /bit instructions.
Problem
Develop a sub-routine to XOR 2 directly addressable bits and store the result in CY fl ag. Assume the bit
addresses to be 78H and 79H, and condition of these 2 bits should remain unchanged.
Solution
As direct XOR with bit variables is not available in the instruction set of MCS-51, we may use ANL C, /bit
instruction twice by interchanging bits and then logically OR the results. A sample sub-routine is presented
below, which uses bit 1 of PSW ...

I wanted to learn C and C++, but it didn't click for me until I picked up an O'Reilly book. When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.

I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.
