e second digit from left indicates the type of program memory (PROM/EPROM/FLASH) provided
that the third digit from left is ‘5’. If the third digit from left is ‘3’ then it should be taken as a version with no
on-chip program memory. In that case external interfacing of program memory is essential. e last or fourth
digit from left indicates the size of on-chip program memory, data memory and number of timers/counters.
e standard speed of MCS-51 was set as 12 MHz. However, even a version with a speed of 100 MHz is
available from SiLabs.
