Problem
Explain how the fl ags of PSW would be aff ected if 01111111B or 7FH in accumulator is added with
01H.
Solution
Adding 01H with 7FH would produce 80H as a result and would be the fi nal content of the accumulator. In
binary form, 80H would be 10000000B. Following would be the changes in PSW fl ags:
1. CY fl ag (PSW.7) would be cleared as there is no overfl ow from bit-7 (MSB) of the accumulator.
2. AC fl ag (PSW.6) would be set as there is an overfl ow from bit-3 to bit-4 of accumulator during
addition.
