A great many InDesign commands and functions can be triggered via the keyboard. For example, simply tapping a letter can activate a tool. But most shortcuts involve one or more modifier keys, like those illustrated here. Note that these modifier keys are on both sides of your keyboard, allowing most shortcuts to be single-handed.
On the following pages are many of InDesign’s default shortcuts. However, Adobe applications allow us to change or invent shortcuts for the commands we use most. Use Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts…, create a new Set based on the defaults, then make alterations.
