GREP Styles
Now that you’ve seen more GREP, we can use some of that wisdom to do automatic, ongoing find and format with GREP styles. In this exercise, we’ll examine a couple practical examples.
- Continuing with the downloaded course file Exercises.indd, go to page 6. Fit that page on the screen with the shortcut ⌘-0/Ctrl-0.
Stealing from GREP Queries
Recall the GREP search exercise with the query “Phone Number Conversion” (page 111). The code for that query is supplied with InDesign, saving me from having to figure it out. If I want to apply a character style to every North American phone number in a document, I could search for them and apply formatting. But I’d prefer to have InDesign itself constantly watching for such a pattern and applying ...
