Preferences
We’re so close! But, again, smoother sailing can be had if we do just a little more configuring, this time, under the hood. But here’s the tricky part: Some of InDesign’s preferences are specific to the document that’s open, if there is one.
For example, units of measurement. If you change the horizontal unit to centimeters while a document is open, that affects only that doc and no others. If you set that preference when no documents are open, it will be set for every document you create thereafter.
Warning: There are no visual indications that a given preference is document-specific.
