Identify Your Competition

If there are products similar to yours, you need to make sure that you can differentiate your product in some meaningful way. Is there some piece of gameplay that your idea enhances? Does your idea for some feature make your product more compelling for users? Are you different enough in your look and feel that users do not confuse your product with a competitor's?

Competitors can be both direct (those who offer similar products) and indirect (offerings that are close substitutes). You may find a matrix of your competitors to look something like that shown in Table 4-1.
