8.2 Separating Business Metadata and Technical
Metadata
Both business and technical metadata should reside in the enterprise meta-
data repository, but the two types of metadata should be logically partitioned.
Business and technical metadata contain very different data. They are used in
very different places in very different ways. The usage of business metadata,
the focus of this chapter, is perhaps the main driving force for keeping the two
logically separate. Figure 8.1 shows this separation.
