6.4 Principles of Knowledge Capture

How do you encourage people to share what they know? If people would share

their knowledge freely, the business would have much to gain. People would

learn from others faster and easier, and the business itself would advance and

improve greatly. In this way, we might achieve the dream of the “Learning

Culture.” As we saw earlier in the chapter, employee turnover erodes the

knowledge base. Encouraging people leaving their position to share their busi-

ness know-how would result in less of a liability to businesses.
