So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
A further tone, known as the Signalling Tone (ST), is used in AMPS. Unlike the SAT, which is
generated by the base station and then relayed back by the handset, the ST is actually generated
within the handset and has a frequency of 10 kHz. Thus tone is used in combination with the
SAT to provide an indicator of a variety of states during the course of a call. It is also used as
an ‘acknowledge’ signal in some instances.
Control channels
The control channels are the means by which the radio elements of the cellular system are
organized. As such the control channels are of prime importance, maintaining order within
the radio channels and informing the mobiles which channels they need to use.
