Remote sensing images can also be classified according to different resolutions:
- Spatial resolution: This is the smallest unit area for which we have a DN value. In the case of Landsat images, every DN value corresponds to the reflected energy measured for an area of 30 m x 30 m on the ground.
- Spectral resolution: Spectral resolution refers to the ability of a sensor to measure EMR in different wavelength regions. A higher spectral resolution image gives us a higher number of bands and hence more information that can be used for mapping and analyzing different biophysical properties.
- Radiometric resolution: This refers to how good the remote sensing is in detecting changes in brightness.
