So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Slope, aspect, and hillshade in QGIS
We can very easily calculate the slope, aspect, and hillshade of a digital terrain model using facilities that can be found under Raster | Analysis. Slope is calculated as degrees or percentages, aspect gives the slope direction, and hillshade gives an impression of depth. We'll now calculate each of these using QGIS.
