I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Creating Geospatial Data
In previous chapters, we learned how to use R and QGIS for basic geospatial tasks, such as loading vector data, visualizing it, and stylizing it. We've learned the basics of GIS and vector data, how R and QGIS store them, and more. This chapter will introduce you to the creation of data and the editing functionalities of spatial data offered by R and QGIS. We'll be introduced to different data sources and how to download data from one of these sites. Often, we need to create a digitized map from a printed map, and we'll be covering that in this chapter. After this, we'll learn how to create point, line, and polygon data using QGIS.
