I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Adding a shapefile to a database
We'll now learn how to add a shapefile to a SpatiaLite database. The steps are as follows:
- As before, we open DB Manager.
- Click on Table and then on Import Layer/File to import a shapefile:
- Import BGD_adm1.shp, save it as bd_division (under output table), and then click OK to save it. If everything goes well, we'll see a success notification.
- This shapefile is added and we can see that this bd_division is now being shown under our chapter3_test.sqlite database:
