Have a copy of your old phone bill 

There are many details of the port request that will need to be copied exactly as they appear in your old provider's records. Failure to provide a request that exactly matches your existing account information will result in the phone company denying the port request, causing substantial delays and additional paperwork. 

So, what will they ask for? 

• Account info:
  • Account number (your old telco, not Microsoft's)
  • Billing telephone number in an international format (for example, [phone]) 
  • Security PIN, if you have one set up with your carrier
  • If it's a business account, the first 25 characters of the company's name
  • First 15 characters of the authorizing person's name
