Thin-slice prototyping
A thin-slice prototype provides confidence in the development process, the technology, the team skills, etc. by demonstrating a small amount of functionality, e.g. displays single customer account.
One of the principles of the thin-slice prototype is to get feedback, interpret it, and put what is learned back into the development as quickly as possible. This is true of the business users learning how best the system can contribute, and feeding back that learning in days or weeks instead of months or years. This is also true of developers learning how best to design, implement and test the system, and feeding back that learning in days, or weeks.
