Gap analysis
Gap analysis is the comparison between two forms of similar deliverables, such as designs, models, components, services, and subsystems, to identify areas of difference and overlap. By undertaking gap analysis early and frequently in the project's life cycle to many of the deliverables, many opportunities for reuse can be found. For example, a design may be similar to the one planned, and all that is needed is for the extra features to be added.
