So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In the latter half of the 1990s we set out a far-reaching vision for the software industry. We said then that the software crisis would only be resolved by radical re-engineering of customary practices to create formal separation between units of software and to embrace the concepts of componentization.
We suggested that all types of software organization need to adopt practices that are well understood in the automotive, electronics or airline industries, where pre-prepared parts are routinely and widely traded and reused in order to achieve economies of scale, faster production and crucially higher quality.
