Small projects have the added bonus of delivering benefits more quickly, thus ensuring political and financial commitment from your stakeholders for the next phase. If they can see immediate results, they are less likely to start thinking about the new solve-all project or divert your funds elsewhere. The same goes for short tasks within a project.
Short tasks provide a greater degree of visibility for progress, helping both the project’s momentum and demonstrating to your stakeholders that the project is actually achieving something. The shorter the task, the easier it is to estimate accurately, meaning that you can have more confidence in your overall plans.
