12.1 CLASSIFICATION OF FILTERS
Depending upon the type of signals filters are classified into two following categories:
- Analog Filters
- Digital Filters
12.1.1 Analog Filter
The inputs and outputs both are continuous time signals in analog filters. The block diagram of analog filter is shown in Fig. 12.1.

12.1.2 Digital Filter
The inputs and outputs both are discrete time signals in analog filters. The block diagram of digital filter is shown in Fig. 12.2.
