It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
12.5 STRUCTURE OF DIGITAL FILTER
The digital filters are mainly discrete time linear time invariant systems which may be Finite Impulse Response (FIR) or Infinite Impulse Response (IIR). We can represent the system equations by difference equations. Let us discuss some of the important filter structures.
