IN A CENTERED image, the subject is placed squarely in the center of the frame. Some traditional cameras encourage this with markings that display a circle in the center of the viewfinder. Because of this, centering the subject is often a default way of framing a shot, rather than a conscious decision based on whether or not this orientation serves the scene and will make a good image.
