When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
8.2. CAVEAT EMPTOR
Unfortunately, work-life balance is sometimes merely a millennial mirage. This generation should beware of blanket promises of a balanced life, because they may turn out to be more hype than substance. You might be free to do your job wherever and whenever you like, but if there's a mountain of work to get done, that hardly means balance.
Seniority may also be a limiting factor. Recruiting brochures and Web sites promising flexibility may mislead millennials into believing they can be a mobile worker, whether from home or the beach, from their first day on the job. Although companies may well provide flexible options, they may be available only to a small cadre of experienced employees. Some managers feel that they lack control ...
