It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This
command defines the character that a user types to end an interactive
session. As with the activation-character command,
the ascii-number is the decimal value of
the desired character.
Example
In this example, we set the disconnect character to
control-D, which is ASCII number 4, and we inform
the users with a banner message.
