It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This command defines the serial flow control between the router and the device connected to a serial line.

none No flow control.

software Sets to software flow control.

lock Makes it impossible to turn off flow control.

hardware Sets to hardware flow control.
If neither in nor out are
specified, flow control is assumed to be in both directions, i.e.,
the router accepts and sends flow control.
