The default gateway for the router
None
This command establishes address as the
router’s default gateway, which is the gateway to which
nonlocal packets are forwarded in the absence of a better route. It
is useful if the no
ip
routing command has been issued or if you are
running from boot mode, in which IP routing is disabled. This command
allows you to forward traffic to the default gateway when routing is
disabled. Use the no form of this command to
remove the entry from the router’s configuration.
