Description
This command sets the
password for the enable mode. It
can also be used to establish passwords for other levels. In the
router’s configuration, the password is stored in the clear and
can be viewed by using show
running-config and other commands.
You can encrypt this password as well as other passwords with the
command service
password-encryption. However, because this
encryption uses a very simple XOR algorithm, it is easily cracked.
